The Map
If you press the M key you will find the map to the Warhammer world. Zoom out (scroll up) completely to see the entirety of it.
Choose one of the regions (for example Empire vs Chaos). Now you will notice that the first areas have the information Tier one.
You start in exactly such an area with your character, depending on the race you have chosen. For the Empire, this zone is the T1 area. In the orange marked area you fight against other players and you will find the RvR area.
Renown
Renown is your PvP progression in Warhammer Online, earned through Realm vs Realm (RvR) battles and scenarios. It unlocks powerful gear, abilities, and stat boosts to improve your performance in combat.
How to Earn Renown
You gain Renown by:
- Killing enemy players in RvR
- Capturing objectives, Keeps, and Fortresses
- Winning Scenarios
- Locking zones
The more you contribute, the more Renown you get.
Why Renown Matters

- Focus on zone locks for major boosts
Renown is the key to PvP dominance—get out there and start earning!
RvR (PvP)
RvR is an epic mass PvP, set in the open world.
Capture flags by standing near them; after a while, supply boxes will appear. Pick them up (right-click) and transport them to your warcamp’s supply point for ~2% zone progress per box.
Zones with locked flags are inactive and were recently conquered. To win a contested zone, your faction must defeat enemies, capture flags, and deliver supplies.
Check the State of Realm (SOR) via the red castle icon near your minimap to track zone progress and population. T1 zones are the focus, and the most populated zone is usually the main battlefield.
When a faction reaches 100% control and holds all Battlefield Objectives (BOs), it locks the zone, earning bonus experience, renown, and influence—the losing side gets a smaller reward.
Against All Odds (AAO) grants extra renown and XP to the underpopulated faction in an RvR zone. The SOR bar color indicates which faction benefits from AAO.
RvR Summary
To recap: in the above example you should be able to identify this information:
Norsca & Nordland are the most active zones, with 25-99 players on both Order and Destro sides. Ekrund & Mt. Bloodhorn have fewer than 9 players per faction. In Nordland, both factions control one BO each, with one BO still uncontested. Destro has 16% zone progress, while Order has 8%. In Ekrund, Order benefits from a 20% Against All Odds (AAO) boost for extra renown and experience.
RvR actions—capturing flags, transporting supplies, and fighting—grant experience, renown, and influence, unlocking rewards from the Rally Master. Grouping up is important, as kill rewards are divided based on damage contribution.
Key Tips:
- If outnumbered and under siege at your War Camp, use defense artillery.
- There are multiple battlefield entrances—take alternate routes to gain an advantage.
- Check maps or ask experienced players for guidance.
Scenarios (PvP)
Scenarios are structured, team-based PvP battles that pit players against each other in specific objectives. They provide an exciting alternative to Open RvR and are a great way to earn rewards and experience.
How to Join a Scenario
To join a Scenario, simply queue up via the Scenario window. You’ll be grouped with players from your faction to compete against an enemy team. Scenarios are available at all levels, starting at level 1, and provide both fun and valuable rewards for completing objectives.
Scenario Types
Each Scenario has a unique set of objectives that you and your team must complete. Objectives can include capturing points, holding objectives, or defeating enemy players. The specific type of Scenario will vary, offering different challenges and strategic opportunities.
Discordant is the name for solo queue !
Rewards and Progression
Participating in Scenarios rewards you with valuable currency like War Crests, experience, and item drops. The more you contribute to the team’s success, the greater your rewards. Completing daily Scenario objectives can also earn additional bonuses.
Tips for Success
- Work with your team: Cooperation and coordination are key to success in Scenarios.
- Understand the objectives: Focus on completing the primary objectives instead of only hunting enemy players.
- Level up your gear: PvP gear improves your performance in Scenarios, so be sure to equip your character appropriately.
Public Quests
Public Quests (PQs) are area-specific, dynamic quests that automatically assign themselves to any player who enters the designated area. Players work together to complete the quest objectives and are rewarded based on their contributions.
Public Quest Overview
Public Quests typically consist of 3 stages, culminating in a large fight against Hero-tier opponents. Each PQ requires players to work together to achieve objectives, and once completed, players receive rewards based on their participation, the quest’s difficulty, and a random roll.
- Stages: Each PQ stage has a primary task to complete before progressing. Some stages may have additional sub-objectives and are often time-limited.
- Failure: If a stage isn’t completed within the time limit, the PQ will fail and restart shortly after.
How Public Quests Work
The game world is divided into different Tiers, each offering Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulty PQs.
- Easy PQs: Require fewer players and fewer stages (e.g., 2-3 players, 3 stages).
- Hard PQs: Require more players and more stages (e.g., 9 players, 5 stages). Difficulty scales with the Tier, meaning higher-level PQs (e.g., Tier 4) will require more players and stages to complete successfully.
Loot Bags
After completing a Public Quest, players can receive Loot Bags, which contain rewards such as:
- Weapons/Armor suitable for the player’s class
- Crafting items
- Money
Traveling
Flight Masters, found in major quest hubs and war camps, allow fast travel between zones. Capital cities are key hubs with essential services like the auction house and personal vault.
Your Book of Binding provides a 60-minute cooldown teleport to a rally master, which can be changed by setting a new rally point. A beginner mount is in your inventory—drag it to your skill bar to use it.
The War Report (accessed via minimap or with the bind made in Priorities) enables free teleportation between active zones every 20 minutes (not usable in combat).
In RvR zones, portals in war camps lead to controlled Battlefield Objectives (BOs). Hover over them to see their names and right-click to teleport there instantly.
Now you know how to move efficiently and where the action happens!
PvP Sets
The image is a gear progression chart for Return of Reckoning. It categorizes gear sets into three tiers based on character rank:
- Low Tier (Level 1-15)
- Includes Decimator, Braggart, Carnage, Havoc, Hunter, and Tracker sets.
- Mostly beginner-level sets from PvP, early dungeons and quests.
- Mid Tier (Level 16-39)
- Includes Obliterator, Devastator, Annihilator, Challenger, Duelist, Mercenary, Ruin, Mayhem, Stalker, and Keeper sets.
- Requires some grinding, with PvP and scenario gear being emphasized.
- Top Tier (Level 40, rank 80)
- Includes Conqueror, Vanquisher, Invader, Warlord, and Sovereign sets.
- Also features specialized sets like Dominator, Oppressor, Beastlord, Vale-Walker, Redeye, Sentinel, and Bloodlord.
- Progression requires PvE dungeons for some classes, RvR (Realm vs. Realm) battles, and specific quest completions.
On this image, you can get your first yellow set (Decimator at Decimator NPC, to the right). Destruction have the same type of NPCs at their war camp.
Note it’s VERY important to get it, and it’s VERY important to get the wards and proper sets according to your level. ALWAYS put talismans in your gear, as they super-scale with the bolster, making sub lvl 40 characters more dangerous than fresh 40.
Additional Notes:
- The chart explains the Wards Progression System, where players must collect armor fragments to unlock higher-tier sets.
- Some sets require currency, scenarios, or dungeons to obtain.
- PvE and PvP sets are categorized, with some offering different bonuses based on role.
- Players are encouraged to use talismans in their gear and check the Auction House for items.
War Crests
War Crests are the universal currency for PvP armor sets and weapons in Return of Reckoning. They are earned across all PvP modes, including Scenarios, Realm vs Realm (RvR), and Ranked battles.
How to Earn War Crests
You can start earning War Crests at level 1 and continue using them for PvP gear progression up to Sovereign Gear.
Ways to earn War Crests:
- Defeating enemy players in RvR
- Playing Scenarios
- Locking Zones and Fortresses
At level 16+, you can also earn bonus War Crests from Zone Lock reward bags, with higher-tier bags providing more.
Flexible Progression
War Crests allow you to acquire PvP gear through any PvP mode, removing the need to farm specific activities.
Bonus Rewards
Extra War Crests are awarded for locking a Zone or Fortress from your racial pairing (for example, capturing Caledor as an High-Elf or Dark Elf), up to a maximum of 30.
Auto Roll
This screenshot shows the Auto Roll settings in Warhammer Online: Return of Reckoning, a super useful tool for managing loot in parties and warbands. Instead of manually rolling on every item, you can set up preferences so the game does it for you.
What’s Going On Here?
- Usable Equipment → Always set to “Need,” so you automatically roll on gear you can use.
- Unusable Equipment → “Ask Me” or “Greed,” meaning you either decide on the spot or roll for profit.
- Crafting Items → Mostly “Need,” except for some rarities where it asks first.
- Currency, Potions, Talismans, Event Items → Always “Need” to make sure you grab them.
- Trash → Also “Need”—because even junk can be sold!
Why This Matters
Setting up Auto Roll saves time. You won’t miss out on important items, and everything stays smooth in dungeons, RvR, and warband play.
